Simple Secrets of Attraction Marketing

What is Attraction Marketing?

What is Attraction Marketing?Attraction marketing, simply put, is- taking the role of an educator and trusted advisor,- versus the role of a traditional "me-first" marketer or salesperson. It works off of this simple concept that, particularly in business, people want valuable relationships. They want to associate with individuals that help them to be smarter, better, more effective, more knowledgeable, and more competent. It is why generous people online, for example, have the most followers. You see it on Twitter. You see with bloggers like Seth, and Chris, and Darren. Give away value - put the needs of your "tribe" first, and you will become a center of gravity, over time. For entrepreneurs and businesses alike, it becomes really important to understand this approach, and to modify their business practices accordingly. It's no secret that traditional advertising has become very ineffective, as people tune out the cacophony of ads. (Isn't it annoying when TV ads come on, and their volume is higher than the TV shows? WHY do they think that is working!!!)Businesses that present themselves as sources of valuable information, sources of knowledge and competence, sources of insight, will be much more attractive than the folks turning up the volume on their television commercials. 1. Be a Trusted Advisor - Not a "Guru" but a "Guide"

See yourself as a Trusted Advisor, versus a traditional Marketer or Salesperson. It's important to change the way you view your relationship with your customers, and especially your prospective customers.Folks out there are looking for timely advice. And they want it from someone they trust. It's why we often ask family members for their opinion even in areas where they have ZERO EXPERIENCE! But we at least know that they won't try to mislead or take advantage of us.And that's the same direction you want to move your relationship with your prospects and customers, in.Stop selling product features. and instead start providing information that answers your prospects problem statements.Think of yourself almost as a Magic 8-ball vs a fortune cookie.A fortune cookie talks a really good game. Most of the time, anyway. But it's giving answers to stuff you didn't even ask aboutA magic 8ball, will simply give you the answer... well, an answer, to your direct question.I hope you thought that example a little ridiculous.I did.But it drives home the point - "I don't care how great your product is - I just want to know the answer to my question!"Fortunately, you're much more capable at answering questions than an 8-ball is.But please, don't be a fortune cookie. It's why people go to the same barber or hairdressing salon for years on end. They have a relationship with their barber or hairdresser. This person is a trusted advisor. Who doesn't just talk about the latest hair styles, but asks you about your life, your job, your family.People will often drive out of their way, they'll often pay more than we would have elsewhere... to maintain that relationship.

2. Teaching Sells. How many apples have you gotten this month?
Teaching sells. Demonstrate your knowledge, and effortlessly sell massive quantities. We all have very fond memories of our favorite teachers in elementary, middle, and high school. Perhaps college as well. These people made a deep impression on us. Adn if they recommended something, we gave it serious consideration. Because we trusted and respected them. Not teaching makes you indistinguishable from everyone else. This dooms you to obscurity and a never-ending treadmill of having to fight tooth and nail for every customer you get.Not teaching makes you like the substitute teacher that no one likes. Now imagine if they were trying to sell you something. :(If you don't give people a reason to follow you, they're going to follow someone else. By handing out valuable information to people, you will collect all the "orphaned" customers out there looking for a home. All the "substitute teacher students", looking for a real leader in the classroom.Please.Adopt a customer/student today. Would you? ;)

3. Go where the questions are. Hint: It's the Internet, Silly. (Or "The Google"...)

Go where the questions are.Because of the speed, efficiency and number of options available, theInternet has become the primary method for doing research andmaking purchasing decisions. Be available when they ask, to provide an answer.Check out LinkedIn answers and Yahoo "answers".Look at the rise of Google - a company built on providing answers to people's questions.People have questions. They want answers. And they're getting them on the Internet.

4. Scale Matters. Mass communication means you have a BIG VOICE

Mass communication via the Internet means MORE results with less work and less time. For once making a truly part time business a reality for the average personwith a full schedule and a limited budget. Now even the most inexperienced newbie on the tightest shoe-string budget can implement large-scale marketing techniques that used to cost thousands of dollars - techniques that were basically "off limits" to the average person 10-20years ago.If you haven't yet, watch the video SHIFT HAPPENS on YouTube. And marvel at the rate at which Technology is changing our world. It's up to you to ride the wave. Or be knocked off your surfboard. :)

5. Leverage. Set it and forget it

Content is generally free to write and publish online. And a single well-written piece of content can fuel your business with fresh customers months and even years after you produced it.This is actually what makes sites like Squidoo so awesome. You can reach and help a LOT more people in this leveraged fashion, compared to if you had to speak with each of them individually. So walk softly (write) but carry a big stick (write on the Internet).Or, to use the leverage analogy - carry a lot more weight than is fair. Use Squidoo. :D

6: Less Data, More insight. To cut a long story short...

People don't want MORE INFORMATION.They want more UNDERSTANDING.So spewing huge volumes of content at your prospects will not win them over.Rather, making the complicated, simple, will endear you to your prospects.Giving examples were there were none, will connect you to your prospects.Filling the gaps in their knowledge... showing them the blind spots, will make you invaluable to your prospects.Give them less data.Give the more insight. And then get out of the way, and let them have their "AHA!" moment in peace.

7. How to be more attractive. Grow your credibility ranking as an attraction marketer.

People equate different types of content with different levels of knowledge or expertise. Once you've gotten started with attraction marketing, there are two ways to systematically explode your credibility. They are:1) Create more content2) Create more "advanced" levels of contentFor example,

You could start by writing a series of related blog posts

That article could become a full-blown eBook
