WHO DID YOU KNOW?

I know you will be thinking I will tell you to try and know one powerful man or woman somewhere so that they can help you. Well, sorry to disappoint you. No man, I mean no man or woman can help you in life unless God choose to use them to help you. The best person and the only person you need to know in life is God. I enjoy a scripture that says; they that know the Lord their God shall be strong and do exploit. The key word here is knowing the Lord their God, so did you know God?

Forget the fact that many people are wearing nice clothes, fancy shoes and carrying expensive bags. Many of them buy in credit in order to leave up to the society demands, which some borrow because they want to feel belong; very few can buy and not feel a hole in their account.

In life, three aspect of knowing is very important. Know God, Know your work and Know books, I mean read books.

1. Know God

When you know God, you know all things. Knowing God is not about reading bible or prayer, knowing God is about you been fully convinced of what God is able and willing to do in you and through you.

I will never forget the two major events in my life in early 2000. The first one was in 2001, my landlord gave me a quite notice and when I was unable to get another house on time, he came and started digging grave at the entrance of my room. I feel bad and I was forced to move out of the house to a friends’ house. Out of annoyance, I said to the man, you will be the one to be buried in this grave not me. One day, I was dressing for church when the Holy Spirit said to me, go and apologize to your landlord. I was angry and said no; I will not. Then the Holy Spirit said to me, if you think you know better than I do, then don’t; but if you believe that I know more than you do, then you will obey my instruction. As far as I was concern, it is NO.

On my way to church that Sunday morning, I saw the man sitting in front of his house and somehow, I went to him and apologized, but rather than accepting my apology, the man drove me away, calling me all manners of name; then the Lord said to me, this is the last time you will ever see this man. Shortly after I have gone, the man entered his house, and he never come out again. Two days after, he dead.

They that know the Lord their God

The second event was in my former church. I love pastor so much; and the construction of the new auditorium, I was up and down helping to see things through. While supporting the church, I discovered that, the man in charge of the church real estate and the supervising of the church project was stealing money from the church and it got so bad that two of the major contractor working on the project had to engage themselves in physical combat all because of money. Meanwhile, four months before then, this same man in charge of the church project had collected the balance of a project I did for one of the member without informing me and when I took the case to the church counsel, they collected all the original detailed documents pertaining to the project with the promise to look into it the matter, but instead, the destroy all the evidence and told me to let God fight for me, I should let go.

I let go, but I never let God. So, I took the matter into my own hand. The senior pastor was angry, very angry, and at the point of anger, he placed a curse on me; on that night, I saw a black eagle entering my house, to press my troth to death, and I fought with the eagle for more than five hours. By the time I open my eyes, there was marks all over my body; and while I was there in my room trying to gain my strength and pray in the Lord, a friend of mine Emeka Kade sent me a text message all the way from Ibadan, reversing all wicked pronunciation against my life. Two days after, a young pastor by the name Rev. King Judah Y. El-Salem landed in my place all the way from Jos just to reverse the pronunciation. As if that was not enough, when I was about to get into ministry fully, God used Rev. Sam Adeyemi of Daystar Christian Centre to put a permanent stop to this evil pronunciation.

These two events are just two out of so many. I will never forget a Redeemed Christian Church of God’s pastor that owned me and my sister was dying in the hospital. Of course, my sister later died, and out of serious annoyance, I went to him to ask for my money on a Sunday morning. Right there, I said to him, unless if I have ever plan evil against any one, or do you evil; whether you pay me my money or not, come next month, your things will be thrown out of this place because you are not glorying God. Exactly that period, they sent them packing and that was the last time I ever hear of them.

When you know God, your word becomes an authority that heaven must back up; and your protection becomes Gods’ duty, because you are the apple of His eye. If have not known God, I would have been a dead man by now; because death was closer then very close. Assuming I know only my pastor alone, I will not be alive today to meet wonderful person as you through this book. When God said He will fight your battle and you will hold your peace, I tell you He means just that.

2. Know your work

If you don’t know what you are doing and know it well, nobody will patronize you. Every successful man and woman on earth today knows their onions very well. They have detailed information about their work and they know their very, very well. In the book of Proverbs, the scripture says; look at a man, who is diligent in his work, he will not stand before men and women of low statures, but he will stand before kings, rulers, and the world’s decision makers. So, how much of what you do did you know?

When, hand graphics was out of fashion and people are going into computer graphics, I went to the market buy a computer and look up myself in my room for three straight week, twenty four hours a day, seven day a week. By the time the three weeks was over, I got a job at Trump marketing Service Limited as Creative person, after spending months there, I moved to Arena Multimedia, APTECH Computer where I worked as the Studio Director and Facilitator. From there, I moved to BrandCom as Creative Director where I worked on so many brands and packaged so many management training programmes for the training arms of the firm, Marion Communications.

Getting a job was never a difficult thing for me and even when I was away for close to a years, two weeks after I returned back to Lagos, I worked FANICE bill board and shortly after I finished that, I worked on Oando, before I joined the Enterprise Development Service of Lagos Business School, Pan-African University as a freelance creative consultant. Few months after I joined them, I became the Creative Consultant to Pan-African University and at the same time, a facilitator at the School of Media and Communication of Pan-African University.

Nothing can stop you in life when you know your job very well. So stop moving around like someone that just lost something valuable, sit down and develop yourself. There are so many opportunities for you out there, but you can only benefit from them when you know what you are meant to do.

3. Know books, I mean read books.

My wife can truth me in many things, but she will and she can never truth me when it comes to taking money to buy books. Until recent, I preferred to buy books than to buy food in the house. Even Paul in his epistle to Timothy said; study to show yourself approved in all matter, a working man who can never be ashamed of fact because of his knowledge, one that can with all boldness state the fact as it is and when finding out, it will be just as he said it.

Reading bible alone cannot deliver to you the knowledge and the skill you need to be a computer engineer. You have to read books, journals, articles and carry out researches to be verse in any areas of life you have chosen to explore in life.

Buy books and read books. Books are your friend not your enemy. As a matter of fact, any friends that spend more than forty five minutes to one hour with you in your house or office are not your friend. The hours you will be spending chatting, you can invest it in reading. In my office, you hardly find me chatting with people. If there is no work to do, I look for information on the internet and once am done with that, I play a little with the members of staff and head home. It is very important that you read books.
